During a fast, the phenomenon of the autolysis which is carried out makes it possible to eliminate toxins, to reconstitute the energy reserves and to repair tissue wear. 3 Steps


1. BE PREPARED BEFORE FASTING

In order to adopt a positive and peaceful attitude vis-à-vis the fast, it is important to prepare to it:

  • By reading on the subject. We recommend: "Fasting" and "Food combining made easy" by Dr Herbert Shelton;
  • By eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, whole cereals and by decreasing the fish and meat consumption a week prior to arrival a few weeks prior to arrival;
  • By giving up certain elements of diet: coffee, tea, chocolate, refined sugar, preserves and meat and alcool the week before the fast;
  • By eating only fruits and vegetables 2 or 3 days prior to arrival;
  • By preparing departure well, making sure all is in order, to leave cares behind and set out with the greatest possible peace of mind.

2. YOUR STAY

We are open all year long so that you can select the date of arrival and departure that best suit your needs. In order to make your stay an overall pleasant experience and by meeting your needs to the best of our abilities, it will be possible to fast:

  • with or without a Television set in your room
  • with or without Internet access
  • with or without colonic hydroyhérapy Vby resting in your room or by quietly socializing in the living room
  • by attending daily conferences or not

Particular attention is given to those clients who are fasting for the first time. During your fast, massage appointments are preferable at the start of the fast and during the re-introduction of food phase (all the while during a juice cure). It is advisable to make appointments for massage services in advance.

  • No matter what season, bring warm and comfortable clothes, warm socks and slippers.
  • At Val Santé, we recommend the fast with demineralised water, but we also offer the cure using fresh vegetable and fruit juices…
  • Sojourn duration can be 3 to 30 days.
  • In every case, the stay comprises one period of fast as such, followed by one period of gradual resuming of food intake which varies according to the length of the fast.
  • The post-fast period can however be prolonged according to the need or desire of each faster.
  • During the stay, tobacco, alcohol and others… are proscribed.
  • The irrigation of the colon is possible at the beginning or the end of the cure.
  • A public telephone is available to fasters.
  • Various products and books are offered for sale.
  • Cable T.V. and internet available on request (additional fee).

3. POST-FASTING PHASE

During this transition stage, the body is nourishing and refurbishing its cells. Therefore, it becomes essential to eat frugally, fresh and high quality food.

  • The post-fasting phase must be the same length as the fasting.
  • During this time frame, it is essential NOT to consume any red meat, poultry, fish, coffee, sugar and especially No alcohol. Salt must be avoided since it can cause intense swelling problems.
  • As far as physical exercise is concerned, one must start with a 10 minute walk and gradually increase physical activity.
  • A guide will be provided in order to ensure that your readjustment and recuperation phase at home will be successful and pleasant.

Frequently Asked Questions | Questions & Answers

1. Who should not fast ? Insulin-dependent Type I diabetics, extensive carcinomas and metastatic cancers, cardiovascular diseases including heart failure, severe cardiac rhythm disturbances and pacemakers, renal failure patients and those who only have one kidney, people with mental illness or anorexia.

2. How long should one fast ? It depends on your health problems and how much time you have before going back to work.

3. Can I take medication while I'm fasting ? No ! Fasting works by allowing the body to heal by itself, the opposite of forcing a solution as medication does. Unlike the use of medication which imposes solutions, or which makes forced alterations to particular situations, fasting respects the self-healing (homeostatic) potentials of the body. Medication may adversely affect you if taken on an empty stomach, and its power is doubled or tripled.

4. Should I take vitamins while fasting ? No, for the same reasons as not taking medication.

5. Will I be hungry ? | No, after the first 48 hours, the process of autolysis begins and the body starts to feed off its own reserves. However, in some cases, the client may experience some mental or emotional desire for food which is normal.

6. Can I fast if I am thin ? It is necessary not to go below a certain weight that we will help you to determine (no lower than 20% of your Body Mass Index or BMI).

7. This is my first fast: do I undertake a shorter fast ? No, the duration of the first fast depends on the state of your health. After a few days, the autolysis starts to work, it is preferable at this time to extend this desirable state. We recommend, when it is possible, a stay of 10 days (7 days of fasting and 3 days of gradually resuming feeding with juice then fruit). In case of health problems, a longer fast is more beneficial.

8. Are there any special preparations I should undertake before starting a fast ? Yes, it is a good idea to eat well (lots of fresh fruits and vegetables) as soon as you decide you want to fast and especially just before you are about to start a fast to prepare your body with enough nutrients that it will need during the fast. A week before the fast, it is essential to eliminate all meat from your diet (including chicken and fish), coffee, sugar, and alcohol. Two days, before your arrival, eat only raw, uncooked fruits and vegetables.

9. How soon can I return to my regular diet and normal activities after the fast? It is necessary to return gradually to your regular eating habits. This period of readjustment will more or less depend on the length of your fast. A guide will be given to you to help out.
